Choosing the right technical direction can be overwhelming. AlphaTales simplifies this by analyzing your project requirements and recommending an architecture style, stack choices, and a high-level architecture diagram. This guide walks through generating, reviewing, and customizing Technical Architecture.
What Are Architecture And Stack Recommendations?
Tech stack recommendations are AI-generated suggestions for the technologies your project should use. They cover five categories:
- Frontend -- Frameworks and libraries for building your user interface.
- Backend -- Server-side frameworks and runtime environments.
- Database -- Data storage solutions.
- Hosting -- Cloud platforms and deployment services.
- DevOps -- Tools for CI/CD, monitoring, and infrastructure management.
Each category shows a primary technology (the main recommendation) and supporting technologies (complementary libraries and tools).
Generating Recommendations
- Open your project and navigate to Technical Architecture from the sidebar.
- If no recommendations exist yet, you will see an empty state with an AI Generate button.
- Click the button to start the analysis.
- A progress banner appears while the AI evaluates your project context.
- After a short wait, recommendations appear organized by category.
The AI considers your project description, features, required app types, audience, and customer type when generating suggestions.
Reviewing Recommendations
Once generated, Technical Architecture displays these sections:
Architecture Style
The AI recommends an architecture pattern for your project and shows three viable options. Each option shows:
- A brief description of the pattern.
- A Recommended badge on the suggested option.
- The generated choice for the current brief.
Regenerate the brief if the selected architecture needs to change.
Recommended Technical Stack
Each category row shows the recommended technologies and why they fit this product:
- The primary technology is highlighted.
- Supporting tools appear alongside it.
- Hover over any technology to reveal an edit button.
High-Level Architecture Diagram
The page shows a high-level architecture diagram with users, product surfaces, application layer, data/state, and relevant external systems. You can drag nodes, edit node labels, remove nodes, or connect components when the diagram needs adjustment.
Detailed folder/file structure belongs in the Dev Pack or implementation handoff, not on this page.
Customizing Your Stack
Editing a Technology
- Hover over any technology chip in the Tech Stack section.
- Click the edit icon that appears.
- Modify the name in the inline editor.
- Click the save button to apply your change.
Adding a Technology
- Click the + button at the end of any category row.
- Type the library or tool name.
- Press Enter or click the add button.
The new technology appears as a supporting item in that category.
Selecting an Architecture Style
Click any architecture card to select it. The detail panel below shows the pros, cons, and best use case for your selection.
Regenerating Recommendations
If your project requirements change or you want to explore alternatives:
- Click the Regenerate button in the page header.
- A dialog appears where you can provide feedback to guide the AI. Choose from quick options like "More modern," "Simpler stack," "Enterprise-ready," or "Lightweight."
- Optionally type additional instructions -- for example, "Focus on TypeScript" or "Prefer AWS services."
- Click Regenerate to start the process.
Warning: Regenerating replaces your current recommendations. Any custom edits or manually added technologies will be lost. Consider noting your customizations before regenerating.
How Selections Feed Into the Dev Pack
Your architecture and stack selections are not just for reference. They become part of the handoff material your team can package:
- The Dev Pack can include your architecture and stack decisions.
- The high-level diagram gives developers a quick view of major product parts.
- Changing Technical Architecture before packaging keeps handoff material aligned with the approved product scope.
