Overview

Comments are the primary way to discuss features with your team in AlphaTales. Every feature has a dedicated comments section where team members can ask questions, provide feedback, share decisions, and track conversations. This guide explains how to use comments effectively for team collaboration.

Adding a Comment

Open any feature's detail page and scroll to the Comments section at the bottom of the main content area. Type your comment in the text input field and click Send (or press Enter) to post it.

Your comment appears immediately with your name, initials, and the time it was posted. The feature's comment count updates in the features list so other team members can see that new discussion has occurred.

Tip: Use comments to document decisions, not just ask questions. When your team agrees on a scope change or design decision, post a comment summarizing the outcome so it is captured alongside the feature.

Viewing Comment Threads

Comments appear in chronological order within the feature. The comments section can be expanded or collapsed to manage screen space. When collapsed, the comment count badge indicates how many comments exist.

Each comment shows:

  • Author name and initials -- Identifies who posted the comment.
  • Timestamp -- Shows when the comment was posted, displayed as a relative time (such as "2h ago" or "3d ago").
  • Content -- The full text of the comment.

Replying to Comments

To reply to a specific comment, click the Reply button on that comment. The input field switches to reply mode, showing which comment you are responding to. Type your reply and send it. Replies are nested under the parent comment so the conversation stays organized.

Top-level comments and their replies form threads that are easy to follow. You can view replies by expanding the thread under any comment that has responses.

Real-Time Comment Updates

When a team member posts a comment while you are viewing the same feature, the new comment appears automatically without requiring a page refresh. This keeps conversations flowing naturally during active discussions.

The comment count on the feature card in the features list also updates, so team members browsing the list can see which features have recent activity.

Using Comments for Team Discussions

Comments work well for several types of team collaboration:

Scope Clarification

Post questions about what a feature should or should not include. Tag specific concerns and let the feature owner respond. The conversation stays attached to the feature, making it easy to reference later.

Design Feedback

When reviewing functional requirements or acceptance checks, leave comments with specific suggestions. This keeps feedback in context rather than scattered across separate communication channels.

Status Updates

Use comments to provide progress updates, flag blockers, or announce that a feature is ready for review. Team members following the feature will see the update in the comment thread.

Warning: Comments are permanent records. Avoid sharing sensitive information such as credentials or personal data in comments.

Tracking Comment Activity

The features list shows a comment count badge on each feature card. Features with recent comments are easy to identify, helping you prioritize which discussions need your attention.

On the feature detail page, the comment count is also displayed in the sidebar metadata, giving you a quick overview of how much discussion a feature has generated.

Next Steps

With comments, your team can collaborate directly on features without switching to external tools. Combine comments with feature status updates and scope management to keep your project moving forward with full transparency.
