AI Feature Generation
Generate grouped feature titles, then turn selected titles into details
What you'll learn
- Understand how feature groups shape title generation
- Generate and review grouped feature titles
- Edit or rename suggested titles before proceeding
- Generate full feature details from selected titles
Overview
AI Feature Generation lets you quickly populate your project with well-structured features. Instead of writing every feature from scratch, AlphaTales uses your project context, selected Feature Groups, and Application Workflow to produce grouped feature titles. You then choose which titles should become full feature details.
The Two-Step Flow
Step 1: Generate Feature Titles
From the Features page, click AI Generate to start the process. AlphaTales uses the selected Feature Groups and available project context to produce feature titles grouped by capability area.
While titles are being generated, a progress banner appears. Once ready, suggested titles appear under their group names so you can review one area at a time.
Step 2: Select and Generate Details
Review the suggested titles. For each title, you can:
- Select or deselect it using the checkbox. Only selected titles will proceed to detail generation.
- Edit the title by clicking on it. Rename it to better fit your project before generating details.
- Generate more for a group when one capability area needs additional ideas.
Once you are satisfied with your selections, click Generate Details to proceed. The AI takes each selected title and produces a complete feature with:
- Feature intent (purpose and context)
- Functional requirements
- Acceptance checks
- In-scope and out-of-scope definitions
Tip: Edit titles before generating details. A clear, specific title gives the AI better context and produces more accurate requirements and acceptance checks.
Reviewing Generated Features
After detail generation completes, the new features appear in your features list alongside any manually created features. Each AI-generated feature is marked with an indicator so you can distinguish it from manually created features.
Open any generated feature to review its content. The detail page shows all the fields the AI populated, including functional requirements, acceptance checks, and scope definitions.
Editing AI Output
AI-generated features are fully editable. You can:
- Rewrite the feature intent to better match your vision.
- Add, remove, or reword functional requirements.
- Adjust acceptance checks to match your team's testing standards.
- Update in-scope and out-of-scope items.
- Change priority, category, and assignee.
Warning: AI-generated content is a starting point, not a final specification. Always review and refine the output to ensure it accurately reflects your product requirements.
When to Use AI Generation
AI Feature Generation works best when:
- You are starting a new project and need to quickly define the feature set.
- You have completed Market Research, Workflow Alignment, Application Workflow, and Feature Groups.
- You want to brainstorm feature ideas and refine them collaboratively.
For projects with highly specialized or domain-specific features, consider creating those features manually and using AI generation for more general functionality.
Next Steps
With your features generated and refined, open each feature detail page to assign team members, set priorities, and start discussions. You can also continue adding features manually alongside the AI-generated ones.
