Overview
The Dev Pack is your project's handoff package. It bundles your product requirements, feature specifications, and Technical Architecture into a downloadable archive for developers or external teams.
What The Dev Pack Can Include
The Dev Pack is a curated collection of project documents packaged as a ZIP or TAR.GZ file. Depending on what is ready, it can include:
- PRD Document - Your Product Requirements Document.
- Features - Detailed specifications for selected features.
- Technical Architecture - Architecture style, stack choices, and high-level architecture direction.
You control exactly what goes into the pack by toggling items on and off before downloading.
Access The Dev Pack Page
- Open your project from the dashboard.
- Select Dev Pack from the sidebar.
- Review the available content and MCP integration options.
Items that have not been generated yet appear unavailable until you complete the earlier step.
Select Content
For each content item, you can see:
- A checkbox to include or exclude it.
- The item name and short description.
- An availability indicator when the item is not ready yet.
PRD Document
Toggle this to include the Product Requirements Document. Generate the PRD first if the option is disabled.
Features
Click Select to choose which features to include:
- A dialog opens with your project's features.
- Select the features you want to package.
- Use Select All or Deselect All for quick selection.
- Confirm the selection before downloading.
Technical Architecture
Toggle this to include the architecture and stack material from Technical Architecture.
Tip: Include PRD, features, and Technical Architecture when onboarding a new developer. Together, they explain what to build and the recommended technical direction.
Choose An Archive Format
Choose your preferred archive format:
- ZIP - Compatible with all operating systems.
- TAR.GZ - Common in Unix-based environments.
Click the format option before downloading.
Download The Dev Pack
- Select at least one content item.
- Review the selection count.
- Click Download.
- Wait while AlphaTales creates the archive.
- Save the downloaded file.
Warning: Large projects with many features or documents may take a moment to generate. Do not navigate away while the download is in progress.
MCP Integration
The Dev Pack page also helps you connect AI-powered development tools. Available setup options can include Cursor, Codex, Antigravity, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and other MCP-compatible tools.
After connecting an IDE, you can ask your coding assistant to review AlphaTales project and feature context without leaving your editor.
Next Steps
Create the Dev Pack after your PRD, features, and Technical Architecture are ready. If something important is missing, return to that section first and regenerate the Dev Pack afterward.
